AD8495 is a precision thermocouple amplifier with cold junction compensation. It produces a high level (5mV/°C) output directly from a thermocouple signal by combining an ice point reference with a precalibrated amplifier. It can be used as stand-alone thermometers or switched output setpoint controllers using a fixed or remote setpoint control. It can be powered from a single-ended supply (less than 3V) and can measure temperatures below 0°C by offsetting the reference input. To minimize self heating, an unloaded amplifier typically operates with a total supply current of 180μA, but it is also capable of delivering in excess of ±5mA to a load. This amplifier is widely used in application such as J type thermocouple temperature measurement, set point controller, Celsius thermometer, universal cold junction compensator, white goods (oven, stovetop) temperature measurements, exhaust gas temperature sensing, catalytic converter temperature sensing etc.
- Low cost and easy to use
- Pretrimmed for K type thermocouple, input voltage range is − 0.2V to − 1.6V
- Internal cold junction compensation, voltage noise is 0.8μV p-p at (f = 0.1Hz to 10Hz, TA = 25°C)
- High impedance differential input, quiescent current is 180μA typ
- Reference pin allows offset adjustment, input current is 25μA
- Thermocouple break detection, initial accuracy is 1°Cmax at (TA = TRJ = TMJ = 25°C)
- Laser wafer trimmed to 1°C initial accuracy and 0.025°C/°C ambient temperature rejection
- Single supply voltage is 2.7V to 36V, dual supply voltage is ±2.7V to ±18V
- Operating temperature range is −40°C to +125°C
- Packaging style is 8-lead MSOP
