ADM560 is a four-driver/five receiver interface device designed to meet the EIA-232 standard. The device features an onboard dc-to-dc converter, eliminating the need for dual ±5V power supplies. This dc-to-dc converter contains a voltage doubler and voltage inverter, both of which internally generate ±6.6V from the input +3.3V power supply. This consumes only 5mW making them ideally suited for battery and other power-sensitive applications. A shutdown facility is also provided to reduce the power to 0.66μW. It contains active low shutdown and an active high receiver enable signal. In shutdown mode, two receivers remain active, thereby allowing monitoring of peripheral devices. Application includes notebook computers, peripherals, modems printers, battery-operated equipment.

- Suitable for serial port mice, 116Kbps data rate
- 1μF charge pump capacitors, single +3V to +3.6V power supply

- Typical VCC power supply current is 3.5mA (no load, TIN=VCC, VCC=+3.3V ± 10%)
- Typ output voltage swing is ±5.5V (VCC=3.3V, three transmitter outputs loaded with 3Kohm to ground)
- Temperature rating range from 0°C to +70°C
- 28-lead shrink small outline package [SSOP]
